Teacher Professional Development Plan

Teacher Professional Development Plan is an essentially academic program initiated by the Department of Education – CTA in 2014. Here is a quote from a famous Educationist Rabindranath Tagore, “A teacher can never truly teach unless he is still learning himself. A lamp can never light another lamp unless it continues to burn its own flame. The teacher who has come to the end of his subject, who has no living traffic with his knowledge but merely repeats his lesson to his students, can only load their minds, he cannot quicken them”. In 2014 academic year a new paradigm of teacher professional development (TPD) practices was introduced in all TCV schools, primarily as a part of the Department of Education and the Tibet Fund’s Tibet Education Project. For continuation & implementation of the professional growth of teachers in TCV schools, TCV Head Office appointed Mr. K. Wangdue as a Curriculum and Teacher Development Officer to carry out the following activities to support the Teacher Professional Development initiatives in our TCV schools.
1.    Conducting Teacher Professional Development introductory workshops.
2.    Creating a reading corner for teachers with books on education and pedagogy.
3.    Supporting the implementation processes with school visit and interaction with teachers and heads of the schools.
This year’s Teacher Professional Development Plan in TCV School Gopalpur got started on April 6, 2016 Wednesday as per schedule laid by Mr. Tenzin Dhargyal who is in charge of TPD at DoE
On every Wednesday, the sixth period is being spent for TPD as per time table laid down by Mr. Dhargyal. Before the start of TPD, the headmaster called upon the subject department heads to urge them to hold department meetings and pass resolution on ‘how to do TPD by respective faculty members’ and need submission of the resolution so being passed in the faculty meeting to the headmaster for information and necessary actions.
