INTRODUCTION:
The Tibetan Children’s Village, Gopalpur with humble submission and deep reverence to His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama came into existence in the year 1997 with His grace and His younger sister whom we dearly called Ama la to accommodate the influx of children coming from Tibet. It is now well established 22 years old in nurturing and catering to the future seeds of Tibet as well as other children from the Himalayan regions.

EDUCATION:
The Principal takes the overall head of the education greatly supported by the headmasters of the two sections. Beside all the regular activities like debate, quiz, elocution, reading time for all, Remedial classes, Verse Memorization, Gyalshen Week, school hair dressing and energy hub unit and etc. the school takes new and extra initiatives on promotions of secular ethics and professional development programs for the teachers which are briefly explained below :

SOME IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE SCHOOL:

·     Promotions of Secular Ethics (SEE Learning): We have decided to spend the last two periods of every Saturday which will be used to learn the basics of Buddhism and particularly Buddhist philosophy. So far, the following topics were covered namely; Uncertainty of death, Taking refuge, Ways to repent our sin, Meditation and the body postures & our mental attitude & four noble truths.

  Professional development programs for the Teachers
·            Science Teacher’s Workshop: As a part of the Teacher Professional Development program for the   academic year 2019, Science teachers from 7 Tibetan schools and 4 Indian schools teachers       participated in the workshop from 24th to 25th June, 2019.

·         Early Childhood development Workshop: Mrs. Gayatri Nambier who was an early childhood    expert gave a short session on early childhood development and art of dialogue to the student leaders. As a part of this program, student leaders are organizing life skill programs every Wednesday morning.

·         Tibetan language improvement program for primary teachers: We have organized Tibetan  language improvement program for the primary teachers
·         Collaborative program: As a part of collaborative activity, science department has invited Mr. Tenzin Ngodup of Upper TCV and Mr. Lhundup Namgyal of Lower TCV during Science teacher’s collaborative program.

·         Workshop on lesson planning: One whole day workshop on lesson planning was conducted by  Mrs. Vijayam Kartha. All the teachers of senior section and junior section took part in the workshop
·         Teacher’s Reading Corner: We have a beautiful room with all the needed things for the teachers which are located just next to the staff room. That’s makes it more approachable. All the TPD related books are kept there and materials to prepare teaching aids are also available.   

·        Life Skill Education for class VI-X.: Mrs. Vijayam Kartha has given this workshop for a whole day.

   HEALTH:The school has a dispensary with 1 nurse, 1 health workers and 3 ayahs. We also have dentistry with 1 dental hygienist. This year the school has 4614 outpatients and 17 inpatients. The school dental hygienist and also help from the Upper TCV dentist, we treated 736. From the diseases, the URI (Upper Respiratory tract Infection) case was the most predominant as the dispensary has treated 1371.We are fortunate to have Dr. Kakahara, a Japanese doctor who comes once in a year and do check up all the children and if time permits he also see our staff. There is no major outbreak of major diseases in the school.  
        HOMES AND HOSTELS:
·         At present, out of 30 homes, we are running 21 homes accommodating at least 24 children in each home. Beside the homes, we have 2 hostels for the senior boys and 3 hostels for the senior girls and 1 home for baby room. In the middle of the year, Girls hostel for class XII i.e. Youlokoe has to close temporarily as the hostel matron took an emergency resignation from the work. The girls are sent to the two girls hostels. The homes and hostels are well looked after by 26 motherly figures. The home mothers and wardens not only attend to daily chores but equally take part in upbringing a healthy cultured educated child. The school provides different in service workshop to further train the home mothers and wardens.

Professional development programs for the Home Mothers

·         Orientation Course: Mrs Kalsang Sharling was invited to give half day orientation course to the home mothers during the Staff Orientation Day

·         POCSO Workshop: The home mothers have received two workshops organized by the DoE (CTA) on the POCSO and Children’s Behavioral Changes.

PERFORMANCE IN SPORTS:
School gives so much importance to sports which are practice on regular basis. Under the leadership of late Mr. Wangchuk, our school football teams are able to develop skills through constant practice. Our participation in different tournaments brought lot of prizes and victory to the school. We were the champions in two categories in Reliance Foundation School Football tournament in district Kangra, H.P during the year 2019.
