DEAR Day

 



Every year on 12th April, Junior section of TCV Gopalpur celebrates DEAR Day organized by the English department.

So what is DEAR Day?

DEAR stands for Drop Everything and Read. It is a special reading celebration to remind and encourage everyone to make reading their priority.

April 12th is marking the celebration of beloved author Beverly Cleary’s birthday. Mrs Beverly Cleary was an American writer of children’s and young adult fiction. One of the America’s most successful authors, 91 million copies of her books have been sold worldwide since her first book was published in 1950.

·       The best three students from grade 5 and 6 were presented prize for their essay composition on Reading.

·       The highest reader from each grade 4 , 5 and 6 were also presented with prizes .

 Programmes:

·       The students listened to the TED talk of four years old boy telling on the importance of reading.

·       Silent independent reading.

·       Read a loud stories video.

·       Loud reading and story telling to one another.

·       Sharing ones feelings and experiences.
